At Higher Openshaw Community School we firmly believe in creating a ‘Reading for Pleasure’ culture. We encourage our children to read at every opportunity they get. Whether this be comics, newspapers, fiction, non-fiction or E-Books, we believe reading provides opportunities for pupils to reach and achieve their true potential.
Our library is a safe, calm space in the school that encourages a love of reading and provides pupils with access to a wide range of texts, additional to the many available in our class libraries.
It is a space where reading interventions take place and is monitored and looked after by our school librarians. Our reading buddies work in the space and support the learning of younger pupils.
