Higher Openshaw Community School believes that Physical Education (PE) is essential to ensure children attain optimum physical and emotional development and good health. With the support of Dream Big, we deliver high-quality, specialised teaching and learning opportunities that inspire all children to succeed in physical education and in developing life skills.

We  teach children how to cooperate and collaborate with others as part of an effective team, understanding fairness and equity of play to embed life-long values. Our Physical Education curriculum has been designed to support the mental wellbeing and fitness of all children at Higher Openshaw Community School, not only through the sporting skills taught, but through the underpinning values and disciplines that PE, sport and physical activity promotes.

Children also have the opportunity to represent the school in inter-school tournaments, take part in mindfulness yoga sessions, attend after school clubs with a multi-sport approach alongside swimming sessions in Year 4 at Wright Robinson College.
